Today’s class was great! I was extremely nervous because we had homework due. Our homework was to create an idea for a game. It took me about 3 days to come up with 20 sketches and my idea. It was an anxiety attack waiting to happen. I went into class expecting tragedy, but I had to control myself and FOCUS. Fortunately, Mr. Jimmy Moss started talking about the graphic design world and the reality of becoming a graphic designer. He answered a lot of my questions, such as, how much should we charge? How do we present our work? Who are we presenting our work to? It was absolutely grand, I learned so much in his lecture! Right after he completed his lecture, we had to present our work/homework. The moment I was dreading! The presentations started and I was waiting for my turn, my turn was next. I started presenting and I wasn’t sure what I was saying. It was like I was another person because I was extremely nervous and afraid of criticism. Little did I know that jimmy would love it! He even said “this could be a senior project”. That truly made my day! =]

I think we were all nervous, you weren't the only one. But it was a good idea to see how others think and demonstrate thier work.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVED your idea-- clever name! At first, you started talking about how you spent time with your little cousins (i think...?) and how they need to learn more expressive words. I started to doze off wondering why I, as a client, would care what you did with your cousins over the weekend. Yet as you continued to explain the rational--that your cousins age is your target audience--and tied in your game idea I was starting to see the benifits of your game.
ReplyDeleteAs for the nervousness,I'm always a little nervous before speaking before a group of people. What you have to figure out is how to take that nervous energy and use it to your own advantage--speak with energy in your voice and if all else fails "fake it to make it!" :)
I'm glad your idea worked out for you. It was a very creative game and could probably be real one day. I also thought the lecture was very informative and it gave me a good outlook on the design world.
ReplyDeleteBetsy I Loved your game idea I probably would have never thought about it.. good job!
